MODS Vice President of Enterprise Architecture, Mikitaka Hayashi, received an AWP Global Leadership Award at the Global AWP & Advanced Project Delivery Conference on the 19th of November in Houston, Texas at a ceremony attended by the world’s leading Advanced Work Packaging pioneers.
Nominated by Jon Bell, CEO, this recognition is proof positive that since first engaging with AWP in 2018, Mick has become one of the field’s most influential global figures driving innovation in both AWP as well as in enterprise architecture and data management. His leadership has transformed both his organizations—JGC Corporation and MODS—and has had a lasting impact on the wider construction industry across Asia and beyond.
At JGC, Mick spearheaded the propagation of AWP across EPC projects, introducing processes that streamlined work packaging, enhanced data integration and improved project outcomes. These efforts led to measurable gains in project delivery, efficiency and ROI, setting a new benchmark for digital transformation in construction. His leadership helped JGC win the Large Project Award at the 2022 Global AWP Conference for impressive AWP implementation on a USD 40 billion LNG Canada project.
With MODS, Mick continues to advance AWP in the brownfield sphere. He strives to make AWP accessible across all project types, extending its benefits to the world’s aging industrial assets through smarter, data-driven workflows.
A respected voice in global standards, Mick sits on the CII Advisory Board and serves as the APAC Regional Coordinator for DAMA International. He has been instrumental in integrating AWP with international data standards such as CFIHOS, improving interoperability and asset lifecycle management across capital projects. He also co-leads the CBA AWP Data Modelling Working Group, collaborating with industry leaders to establish robust data frameworks for digital project delivery.
Mick’s commitment to knowledge sharing is evident through his founding of the AWP Community of Practice (CoP) in the APAC region, fostering collaboration and continuous learning among professionals. As a Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) and Project Management Professional (PMP), he regularly headlines major AWP and CII conferences, championing digital transformation and data governance in construction.
From advancing global standards to engaging future leaders, Mick’s contributions have progressed AWP from greenfield to brownfield in an era defined by data management, significant efficiency gains and innovation. His visionary leadership continues to shape the future of project delivery worldwide.
Congratulations, Mick!
